In jumping of this barrier can help systematized, transferred in the accessible way the knowledge – stressed Dr Piotr Fliciński, the linguist from the University of the name of Adam Mickiewicza in Poznań which commissioned by SOTE created the first in Poland dictionary e-commerce.

B2B, B2C, tracking code. 400 passwords, one hundred pages in print, electronic version. From where did the idea of creation of the dictionary the e-commerce?

- Let us start from, that in Poland such publications was not previously. Of course, on some pages of companies related with e-commerce there are short dictionary, containing for five to ten passwords. It can be assumed that their creators not so much wanted to pass the knowledge, but rather to create a tool to help in the positioning of service.

On the other hand we have economic book, which discuss the mechanism of action of e-commerce. Appear in them password, definitions, but which have not been postponed to an easy, affordable for an average man language. The target public of this type of publications are educated economists.

The idea to create a dictionary of e-commerce in such form was born after my conversation with the co-owner of SOTE. The company specialises in the establishment and maintenance of the on-line shops. While the brands Marek Jakubowicz wanted to be the publishing house that would help its customers in the conduct of such a store. For me, due to my profession, project was very alluring. I am lexicographer, so both issues theoretical and practice related to the creation of dictionaries is the basis of my research work.

So we began to this idea. In the beginning of the need to recognize this, what unknown...

Hulling of most important passwords from the language to which does operate the business, completing them, classifying, this probably the work to which it is necessary the Benedictine patience?

- Indeed, the task turned out very difficult. From the relatively large supply one should have sifted this, what ephemeral, biform, incorrect . Material I sought in very many sources. This were not book-sources , lexicographical, internet dictionaries, because such as already mentioned, simply does not exist. Therefore I followed the different kind the forum and I analysed entries under suitable plots on sides of on-line shops. Some material I received also from the team SOTE. Employees have told me a collection of words that most often appear on the forum of their corporate site. But compiling terms is just the first step. Simply I did not know the meaning many of them, it was lacking to me the competence. I had therefore to understand mechanisms related to the installation and the service on-line shop. To get the knowledge for example from the field of computer science. For me this was not too difficult - from the education I am not only a linguist, but also with the electronic engineer and the little automatic machine - surely however very arduous.

Creating the dictionary, all the time I had in mind a thought that it must be written in simple language. For the scientist is not easy task. I am accustomed to the construction of philological dictionaries, and this was supposed to characterize the practicality. I knew that definitions should be precise, on the other hand can be casual nor colloquial. After a series of discussions with Marek Jakubowiczem has been worked out the text from the point of view of the recipient of the dictionary surely very useful.

The dictionary which should count 400-500 pages, was reduced to hundred, what is unusually practical. One placed in it remained a index. The dictionary appeared also in the electronic version , and this surely facilitates the use from it. Individual definitions will not cause the objection of professionals - computer scientists or economists. In turn persons who specialists are not, looking into the dictionary, in the easy way can gain knowledge facilitating the conduct of the store and forward it to the next. I think that we managed to reach the established purpose.

Therefore, I would like to ask for the language of e-commerce How it responds to a very dynamic development of the business?

- The dependence is here simple. If the reality outside the language starts dynamically to develop, the language very quickly itself to this trend adapts. It creates new words, borrows lexical elements from foreign languages or other environmental varieties of Polish. To them the more dynamic development of the given field, all the more precise nomenclature elements must seek. Deeper we enter into it, this becomes more hermetic, distant from the common language.

So is simply faster, all the more that both know this term from handbooks of the economy. If while is going for the vocabulary typically of computer science, we deal first of all with adaptations of English words which gain the Polish variety (for example the ending {end} -ing, -ingu, -ingiem in the word {expression} the word billing), or become literally translated. A good example are here cookies, functioning as cookies. What's interesting, the specialistic term begins in this instance to pertain the common parlance…

The same dynamics of changes to which is subject the language the e-commerce is not constant. At the beginning it is necessary to call new elements: phenomena, technologies, processes. Here words are borrowed, first of all directly from English, or from soaked through with him professional varieties of Polish which ties in with the trade and the economy. The user reaches for such tools which are easiest in the communication. If the businessman talks with other businessman, this the will prefers to use for example the term B2B, than to speak about the relation businessman-businessman.

Incidentally, many persons complain on the number of English borrowings in Polish. And after all it is completely the present natural process in the language from always. Thanks to it, we have even a mayor. Please to imagine the situation that somebody today protests, because it is the German word…

Will it ever come once to this that present today in the language of the terminology of e-commerce will become completely polonized? And maybe English will always be an advantage over the Polish?

- In my opinion English words always will be in the e-commerce strongly represented, because it is the language commonly used in areas that are linked to the development of technology.

Many of them surely will be inflectionally adapted to Polish, surely also will grow up the number all manner of acronyms. It is the general trend related to the aspiration to the economy of verbal measures and simplification of the language. There will be enough to mention commonly used in English-speaking countries the return 4U, that is the shorter form for you - for you. Even better is an example of the French language in which the pronunciation of many words significantly differs from their recording.

Earlier you dealt with the language hip-hop. Whether one can in any way compare it with the language of the e-commerce?

- From the point of view of language professionals are exactly the same. Both describe a separate reality. So that the language of the e-commerce can be called a professional, in turn language hip-hop is language surfing. The difference lies not in the mechanism, but in fact requiring describe. And this in the case of e-commerce is more hermetic because it is ties with the technology, while language of the surfing hip-hop refers first of all to music, dance, behavior, clothes or greetings. To understand, what is a script, it is necessary to acquire some know-how. What mean elo, whether ends or square without difficulty can be inferred from the context. Therefore probably average user of Polish will say that language of e-commerce is simply more difficult.

Let us return however to the dictionary the e-commerce and its practical dimension. Whether is it not the sign of the times that for the person that stars with business activity, often even most basic terms are like black magic…

- It is the matter of the increasing specialization in individual areas of life. On the other hand significantly the time shortened from the moment, when a man wanting to start for example trade on the Internet does not know nothing, to the moment, when with such activity can already move. Once the defeating of the way from the journeyman to the master occupied years, now need to quickly jump to a level at which it is understood the most important mechanisms of the industry. It is the matter of the huge competition. If in the possibly short time I will not be better from other, at least the same as they, my project will not have the expected gains. In jumping of this barrier can help transferred unsophisticatedly, a systematized knowledge…

What will be further fates of the dictionary? Will be supplemented, extended?

- Work on the dictionary e-commerce absorbed me so that I wanted to continue it. I would like to create the dictionary, which would include with its range the greater area both the economy, as well as computer sciences. Would be found in it definitions about the dimension rather encyclopedic than practical. But such a project without aid of intelligent practicians will not succeed. It is the work for the team.

Where one can make acquaintance with the dictionary?

- As I mentioned IT is available on the Internet, on the side of the company SOTE. It appeared also in the paper-form. It got to about 20 most important libraries in the country, both of university, as and urban. Thus the availability of the dictionary is practically unlimited.
