PHP version upgrade from 7.x to 8.x

  • Service intended for stores using version 8, running on PHP 7.1 and PHP 7.4. The exact execution date is agreed in advance. The service is performed only on business days, Monday to Thursday, between 9:00 and 14:00.

Changing PHP 7.1 / 7.4 to PHP 8.3.x

The service includes a comprehensive process of upgrading the PHP version to 8.3.x, along with ensuring that the store works correctly after the update.

Changing the PHP version on the server itself (for example, by the hosting provider) is a technical operation and does not include adapting the store. As part of this service, we carry out the full process on the application side so that the store functions properly in the new environment.

What is included

  • making sure the store is on the latest version,
    • updating the store to the latest version (only in the case of migration from PHP 7.4)
  • performing system verification (file checksum verification),
  • verifying the current PHP version,
  • re-encoding customer data and adapting it to newer encryption versions (applies to stores running on PHP 7.1),
  • changing PHP settings (contact with the administrator or changing server settings),
  • verification of operation, including basic tests of the store and the admin panel.

The entire process is carried out by our technical team at an agreed time so that store downtime is kept as short as possible. After the service is completed, the store is ready to run on PHP 8.3.x.

The service does not include

  • updating the store to the latest version (in the case of migration from PHP 7.1)
  • adapting custom development modifications to PHP 8,
  • adjusting the code to work in the case of modifications made by third parties.

Modifications made by SOTE may be adapted to PHP 8 as part of a separately priced service.

If there are modifications that require changes, their scope is analyzed individually. Until the changes are implemented, the store may be switched back to an earlier PHP version.
