European Accessibility Act (EAA)
The European Accessibility Act (EAA) is an EU directive requiring digital accessibility for online stores and applications. This includes elements such as the store website, shopping cart, payment process, banners, and forms. The EAA takes effect on June 28, 2025.

WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) is a set of international standards for designing web content. Version 2.1, Level AA is the compliance level required by the EAA. It covers, among other things:

  • clear page structure,

  • full keyboard navigation,

  • correct heading hierarchy,

  • alt text for images,

  • minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1,

  • readable and informative error messages.

Accessibility features are design practices and functionalities that allow people with disabilities to use websites and applications freely. In e-commerce, this means, for example, being able to navigate the store using a keyboard, having content read by screen readers, receiving clear error messages, and providing alternative text for images.

All new and built-in SOTESHOP graphic templates have been adapted to meet these requirements. The service is intended for stores that use a custom graphic template.

The audit will list all elements that need adjustment, along with a quote for implementation.
It will include specific recommendations on what needs to be changed.
