Cookies Files - an important change for online stores and websites. New requirements from Google and GDPR.

Google is introducing important changes regarding the saving of cookies files and every store should adjust to the new requirements. The change consists of adding additional cookie settings options. To activate the new cookie options, simply update the store to the latest version.

What is the change related to cookie files?

The previous information about saving cookie files in the store, displayed on the information bar, was no longer sufficient. Updating the cookie bar is necessary for the store page to function on the internet.

Old cookie bar

The change, referred to as RODO 2, results from adapting to EU regulations on privacy and data protection. So far, the cookie bar displayed on the store page contained information that the page saves cookies, containing the user's default consent.

In the new version of SOTESHOP, the cookie bar is adapted to the current requirements of Google.

Settings

The new cookie bar gives the user 3 different options to choose from:

• Acceptance of all cookies.
• Refusal to save cookies other than those necessary for the page to function.
• Entering the settings and choosing which cookies the user consents to.

Cookie settings

Types of cookie files saved on the user's device. Necessary cookie files are always saved, analytical and advertising data are optional.

Necessary cookie files

These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are used, for example, to maintain the user's shopping cart content. You can set your browser to block these cookies, but then the website will not work properly. These cookies allow for identification, e.g. of logged-in persons.

Analytical cookies

These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources. This helps us to know which pages are the most and least popular and how visitors move around the site. All information collected by these cookies is anonymous.

Advertising cookies

Advertising cookies may be used through our website by our advertising partners. They are used to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. If you do not allow these cookies, you will still see adverts, but they will not be tailored to your interests.

Why is the change necessary?

The new cookie bar is a condition for using Google services. Google's policy on obtaining user consent from the EU applies to all sites appearing in Google and using its services. Google requires changes to be made and informs of the possibility of suspending user accounts that do not comply with these changes.

Thanks to the cookie bar update to Google, more accurate data will be sent, which is important for reporting shop and ad conversions.

How to update the cookie bar?

Simply update the store and the change will automatically appear in the store. If the store has an individual graphic and the cookie bar does not appear, you need to order a one-time individual graphic modification service, which will manually add the necessary changes to the current graphic theme.

Configuration

Elements related to cookies can be changed in the configuration in the Compliance Module (Applications->Compliance Module->Cookies). Watch a short presentation of the new bar and its configuration.

If you no longer have access to updates, take advantage of the new offer and individual discount.
