What is PHP?
It is a programming language. The SOTESHOP program is written in PHP and for the store to work properly, the server must support the appropriate version of PHP.
Changing PHP. Does it affect me?
If you have a store on SOTE servers in the hosting service or use the store in a subscription, you do not have to worry about PHP changes. The software on the server will be compatible with the store. In individual cases (applies to older services) we individually determine the procedure for changing.

Which versions of PHP does SOTESHOP support?
The SOTESHOP store (current version 7.6.6) can be run on PHP versions from 5.6 to 7.1. The store can still work on PHP version 5.4, but for this version there will be no updates available and we recommend updating PHP to version 5.6.
Why are PHP versions changing and why is it so important?
New PHP versions provide new features that programs use, but one of the basic reasons for the change is security reasons.
Can I change the PHP version on the server?
Most hosting services allow you to change the PHP version for a given service or page. When changing, it is important to choose a version that SOTESHOP supports.
What do I need to do after changing the PHP version?
After changing the PHP version, the store will work immediately.
How to update the database access?
Database access can be updated in the Update Panel-> Expert Tools-> MySQL Configuration. Just enter the data and save. It is important to (e.g. before changing PHP from 5 to 7) previously determine the database access data: database server, user, password and database name.
