SOTESHOP - Support for PHP 7.4

Since November 2020, the SOTESHOP store has been adapted to PHP 7.4. Make sure your store is running on the appropriate version of PHP, as many hosts are withdrawing older versions of PHP and the store may stop working if there is no appropriate update.

Updating the store without changing PHP

No change in PHP version is required to download the update. We still provide support for PHP versions 5.6 - 7.1. If we update the store with an older version of PHP, the store will work without any changes.

Attention!

Adapting the program to PHP 7.4 involves changing the data encryption in the store. Therefore, we inform that if the store has been integrated on its own with other software, using the database directly, problems may occur, and in such a case, updating the store is not recommended. We remind you that we recommend WebAPI as a safe tool for integration with all external programs.

Installing the store on PHP 7.4

Installing the store for version 7.4 is the same as for previous versions.

Change to PHP 7.4

Change from PHP 5.x to PHP 7.4

If the store is running on an older version of PHP 5.x, first change PHP to 7.1 and then follow the instructions for changing PHP from 7.1 to 7.4. Automatic data recoding is available in the Task Schedule, which requires PHP 7.1, so first you need to change PHP to 7.1.

Change from PHP 7.1 to PHP 7.4

If we want to use the new version of PHP on the server, first of all, remember that such a change, regardless of the software, is an operation that requires time and may require support from a specialist, such as an administrator or a specialist from our service department. It is advisable to set the date of such a change in advance and not to make it in the hottest sales period.

How to safely change PHP for SOTESHOP 7?

The latest version of the store is required before the change. In the new version of the store, the data encryption is changed, so before changing the PHP version, the encrypted data must be updated. To do this, go to the store panel and select:

1. Configuration->Task Schedule
   • The list should include tasks: Security - encryption ...
2. Click "Run Manually".

If the operation is completed successfully, the tasks with the name "Security - encryption ..." will disappear from the list. This is an operation that is only done once.

If the process is interrupted, you must enter the Task Schedule again and invoke the operation again. The system will complete the data encryption processing.

If the task schedule is correctly configured in the store, this operation will be performed in the background and will not require manual activation.

Summary

It is also worth performing this operation even if we are not yet changing PHP. Then our store will be ready to change PHP and will store customer data using the new encryption.
