New store update system and new SOTESHOP installation package

We have launched a new update system for the SOTESHOP online store and released a new installation package. If you are installing a new store, be sure to download the latest version of the installer. From the user’s perspective, the update panel looks very similar, but this change opens up many new possibilities for software development.

New package repository

The SOTESHOP repository consists of over 300 packages responsible for different elements of the system. With this approach, we do not need to update all parts of the store, but only selected features affected by a given change. This allows for fast implementation of new features and fixes. Efficient operation of the update system is crucial for software development, which is why today’s change—although not very visible—will have a significant impact on accelerating system development.

Selected new features of the update system:

• Ability to run the store in different modes: stable, development, etc.
• Ability to install updates for a selected group of stores or even a single store.
• New versioning system – each update is marked with a dedicated software version.
• Ability to restore any store version with updates.
• Enhanced software testing capabilities.
• Improved update management security.
• Reduced server memory usage during installation and updates.
• Faster checking for available updates.
• Faster package downloads.
• Improved error handling, e.g. in case of system unavailability or interrupted updates.

These are just selected features. In practice, this change will result in faster software development and increased system stability.

New store installation package

With the release of the new update system, the old installation package is no longer supported. To install the store, download the current package from: www.soteshop.com/downloads.

Update your store before the end of 2025!

Due to the change in update technology, the old update repository will remain active until December 31, 2025. After it is disabled, automatic updates will no longer be possible and a one-time manual migration of the update system will be required. This will involve an additional fee. This will not apply to stores that update their store between October 24 and December 31, 2025 (during this period, a standard update is sufficient). We recommend updating your store at least once a month, so we encourage you to update your store now.

Last call for SOTESHOP 7!

This is the last call to update stores running SOTESHOP 7. After December 31, 2025, upgrading from SOTESHOP 7 will be more expensive. If you want to preserve and migrate your data, do not wait until the last moment.

Existing stores do not need to take any special actions — simply update the store as usual.
